Taste Tested Tuesday: Pork Chops and Pears

Posted by Andrea

I’ve got a busy day today so I need a fast meal! Today I’m serving Pork Chops and Pears, a quick and delicious main dish. Since we always have the ingredients in our freezer and pantry, it’s a snap for me to make. I’ll be serving the chops with rice pilaf and green beans. The perfect dinner for a hectic day!

Here a couple of suggestions. Use pears in natural juice, not syrup. The natural juices contain much less sugar than syrup. Also, season your pork chops with whatever you like. I always use black pepper, Lawry’s Seasoning Salt, and garlic powder.

Pork Chops and Pears

1 (15 ounce) can sliced pears
6 pork chops
3 tablespoons butter or margarine
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon mustard

Drain the pears, reserve the juice, and set aside. In a large skillet, brown the pork chops in butter. Transfer them to a greased 9×13 baking dish.

Add the brown sugar, mustard and reserved pear juice to the skillet. Heat until the mixture comes to a boil. Pour over chops and top with pear slices. Bake, uncovered, at 350 degrees for 40-45 minutes.
