Sugar Plum's innocence and joy is so refreshing. You're doing a wonderful job as parents!

Lamentations is a quite a somber book. I love how God always holds out his hope to Israel even in the midst of His (deserved) judgment on them. His mercy is everlasting...

Happy New Year! :~D

Tammie, as always I thank you for stopping by. Your kind words are ALWAYS an encouragement to me. If we lived near one another, I'd invite you to visit so we could have pleasant conversation in between sips of tea:)

I loved your analysis of enduring difficulties while being blessed. I understand exactly what you mean. When my father passed away several years ago I honestly thought I wasn't going to be able to make it. But the Lord used that time to draw me closer to Him, to teach me how to lean on Him, and to help me develop a pattern of prayer. That year was one of the worst I can remember, but I wouldn't trade the experience for anything. That year, I gained so much insight into just how great God is! Isn't it amazing how God uses our trials to grow and bless us? He knows us so well!

I will certainly be praying for you and yours Tammie! Please continue to maintain such a positive outlook as it is an encouragement to others. The verses your church has chosen will help you do just that.

Like you, I look forward to getting closer to Him and seeing what He has in store for me and my family this year.

Hugs to you!

dear andrea, thank you so much for this article. the past year was one of the most difficult we have ever faced. in august, i realized that i needed to make a decision: was i going to remember these trials for the rest of my life as "the most difficult ever", or was i going to start looking for reasons to praise God? the choice was easy, of course. so while this year was truly one of the most difficult, it has also been truly one of the most blessed.

as a result, we chose as our church theme for 2010 "God is faithful", and we'll be reflecting on the verses you mentioned from the lamentations of jeremiah throughout the year.

i'm looking forward to knowing God better after growing in this truth this year.

God bless you, andrea. you are always such an encouragement to me.
