Taste Tested Tuesday: Banana Bread
Posted by AndreaOnce fall hits, I like to start baking. My husband enjoys the things I bake which gives me even more reason to keep the oven hot!
Banana bread is a great recipe for both beginning and seasoned bakers. The recipe is easy enough for newcomers to master, but lends itself to the addition of other flavors and ingredients experienced bakers might like to add.
Here are a few notes from my experience with this recipe. Baking time can be a bit “iffy’. I suggest you start checking for doneness around 40 minutes or so. You definitely don’t want to overbake it. Also, if I’m baking this bread in a glass loaf pan, I lower the oven temperature to 325 degrees.
Banana Bread
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup butter
2 eggs
1 cup mashed bananas (about 3)
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/3 cup milk
1/2 cup chocolate chips
Sift together flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
In a large bowl, cream sugars and butter. Add the eggs one at a time, beating after each addition. Add bananas and vanilla. Mix in sifted ingredients until just combined. Stir in milk and chocolate chips. Spread batter into one greased and floured 9×5 inch loaf pan.
Bake at 350 degrees for abut 45 minutes or until the top is brown and cracks along the top.
