Taste Tested Tuesday: Sweet and Sour Meatballs
Posted by AndreaOnce spring hits, my Crock Pot usually goes into hibernation. However a few weeks ago, it was “calling” me, so I pulled it out, and put it to good use. I made Sweet and Sour Meatballs, one of my favorite Crock Pot meals.
Whenever I make these meatballs, I usually double the amount of sauce and serve the meatballs over rice.
Sweet and Sour Sauce:
1 cup jellied cranberry sauce
½ cup ketchup
2 tablespoon grated or minced onion
1 teaspoon vinegar
2 tablespoons brown sugar
Combine all ingredients and simmer over low heat for 10-15 minutes. While sauce is simmering, prepare the meatballs.
Meatballs:
1 (20 ounce) package ground turkey (at least 7% fat)
1 egg, beaten
1/3 cup Italian seasoned bread crumbs
½ teaspoon sage
2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
2 tablespoons onion powder
2 tablespoons garlic powder
salt and pepper to taste
Combine all ingredients in a medium bowl. Shape into meatballs and place them in Crock Pot. Pour sauce over the meatballs and cook on low for 3-4 hours.
